It’s My Tree
Caleb Parker
I’m a tree, what are you
My life isn’t a story
I’m definitely not Caillou
Be a branch if you want; break off when you done
If you a leaf you might be down before the sun
If you’re my root thank you
Holding me up; doesn’t mean I can’t-do wrong
Life is life so put your own shoes own
If you ruin lives; leaves and branches put boxing gloves on
You can get an ax you ain’t getting me down
Put a scar as deep as you can
They heal unlike a mind that’s concaved; sit and think you brave
Heck, don’t make me turn around regretting I let you stay
I’m not gonna bail my because you think you saved
Cutting corners, you just making deals
I don’t cut corners; I rush you and I’ll get the sack
You didn’t start the fire I did because you didn’t spark the match
You say I’m selfish but you picked up the shoes and laced up
Now you think I’m going to take a break bruh
You said you tired of that fake stuff, look in the mirror
Take off the mask; you keep thinking the road is straight bruh
But you falling of the looking for a cover to save you
But here you go, theirs the ground of paved pools
You thought you were my maker but I made you

This was a really thought-provoking poem. It says a lot about how hard work will take you further than cutting corners and cheating. I also thought the line “I’m definitely not Caillou” was hilarious, especially because he’s infamous for being the worst children’s show characters.
Thanks for the read!
