There was a two year boy who’s father was a US Soldier. This little boy’s father left for war when he was only two. By the time the son was five years old, he got a letter from his Father. The little boy was so happy. He sat down and wrote to his father who he barely knew. His mother rewrote the letter so her husband could read what it says. The little boy waitied at the mail box everyday for two weeks. By week he three ho got a letter from his father. by the time the little boy was ten years old. IT was his birthday. He was opening gifts when a man in a military uniform walked up to him and said “Hello son”. THe little boy ran and hugged his father. THree weeks later this little boy was watching his father leave for war again. By the time the little boy’s eleventh birthday came he had no letter from his father. But instead he was wearing his fathers dog tags and had an American Flag folded next to his father’s folded uniform. No longer going to be worn. As the little boy read his last letter from his father, he smiled and tears fell from his cheeks. He knows his father is always going to be an American Soldier, but mostly he is still his Father. This little boy is his Father’s son.

It’s sad that the boy didn’t get the time he deserved with his father, but at least he got what he did! Your story was very bittersweet; I like it. It highlights some of the sacrifices and rewards of putting yourself on the front lines.
CrystalS. Yes it is bittersweet. I was trying portray the realness of a soldier and his son or any child for that matter. I know some families that go through this, so for me to caption it the best that I could, well this was the result.
