Chapter 3
The Prince
Collin stood looking out the window of his study at the drive. It had been two days since he had chosen Elise Cullen as his companion and she would be arriving at any moment. He wondered how she would react to being chosen to be his companion. As such she would be his forever, she was now also the future of his bloodline. He didn’t like to think of such things, he liked women and always like the idea of having a family. What he did not like is how his people went about it. A female Elven Vampire could not have children, but centuries ago his race discovered that they could have offspring with humans. It was now the law that if a companion was taken, she would have to be claimed and the one who she was a companion to would have to leave his kiss on her. Otherwise she would be taken from him. As much as he did not like the ritual, he knew he would have to. He had a year though for Elise to get to know him. And he vowed that he would not give her his eternal kiss that would forever mark her as his own unless she willing and freely accepted it, no matter what happened he would not force her. At that moment he saw the carriage start to come up the drive and he head to the front door.
Elise
I had been in this carriage for a day and now as I looked out the window at the huge castle like house, I was in awe, it was beautiful. The carriage came to a stop and the door opened. As I stepped out I looked around and then standing at the top of the steps I saw the man who had been at my interview the one with the deep melodic voice. As I reached the top of the stairs woman who had traveled with me as my chaperone said, “Miss Elise Cullen this is the master of the house.” She leaned over to me and whispered, “Not such a bad looking man to be spending the rest of your life with.” I blushed and the prince spoke, “That you Agatha, I believe your husband has been missing you. You should go to him. I will show Miss Cullen around.” He looked at her sternly but not in a way that would make someone fear him, but in a way as to say she had overstepped her boundaries. Once she left, he put his arm out to me, “Hello, I will show you to your rooms. You would probably like to rest for a bit after that long trip.” I nodded as I took his arm, “I am a little tired and it would not hurt if I could have a bath to freshen up.” He smiled, “Of course, anything you wish just ask and I will see about making it happen.” He looked at who assumed was the chief of the house staff, “Hugh, see to it that a hot bath is drawn for Miss Cullen and that her things are brought in.” “Yes, your grace.” “Have cook prepare a light meal for her as well.” “Right away your grace.” The prince lead me up the stairs, “The west wing is for guest when they come, the east wing is where you will find our sleeping quarters as well as our personal rooms.” Before I could catch myself, I asked, “Our?” He paused, “I meant your sleeping quarters and personal rooms, and then I have my own. Though our rooms are connected.” “Oh, I see.” We stopped at the most elaborate door I had ever seen, “This door leads to the shared sitting room, to right are your rooms and to left are mine.” He took me to the right, when we walked into what I would learn was my sitting room we were met by a maid, “This is Mary, she is your lady’s maid, do not worry about asking her for anything. Her soul job is to help you.” He saw the look of “I don’t need any help” in my eyes. He smiled, “Don’t worry, she is well paid. My mother says she is the best lady’s maid for a young woman. I will leave you now to get some rest and freshen up.” He walked out without another word.
