Chapter 7
The next several days flew by; Collin showed Elise around the mansion and the surrounding estate. Collin had hired a private instructor to help Elise study more about the Elvin Vampires “Make sure that she learns all she wants to know.” Collin told the instructor, “What is she asks about the Bonding?” Collin looked up from his work, “Tell her it would be best if she asks me. I do not want you frightening her.” Collin stood “And if I hear that you have you will have me to deal with.” Collin was not a violent man, but when it came to Elise there was nothing, he was not willing to do in order to protect her.
Elise
Before Elise realized it, she had been with Collin a month. She was continuing her study of Collin’s people and loving it. She was in the library one afternoon when Collin come in “Am I disturbing you?” He asked leaning against the door, Elise’s face lit up, “Collin!” She said as she rose, “Of course not.” As always Elise looked lovely “I have something I have been needing to talk to you about.” Collin said as he sat beside her, He was not sure how to begin, “Is everything alright?” Elise asked setting her book on the table next to her chair. “Elise, I have been putting something off and I’m afraid I can not put it off any longer.” Elise looked into Collin’s eyes. She had been wondering when he was going to bring it up “There is not much time before we must decide is there?” Collin looked in her eyes, searching them. He found in her beautiful dark, eyes something he could only have dreamed of. He found kindness, sweetness, and love. “I wish there was more time for us to get to know each other, but yes, you are right. We must decide by the end of the week, well, you must decide.” Elise stood and walked to the window. From the moment Collin told her that he would not force her she had been thinking about if she would say yes, “Collin” Elise said as she looked out the window “I have known from the time my sponsor chose to pay for my education that I was being groomed to be a companion. For a long time, I was scared, afraid that the one who chose me would not be kind. The he would only want me for the fact that I could give him a heir to his bloodline. The whole time I was in the carriage traveling here I wondered what kind of man you were.” Elise turned her eyes glassy with tears “Collin, … I could not have asked for anyone better to choose me as his companion. From the moment I arrived you have done nothing but show me kindness and compassion. You listen to me when I speak. You let me write to my family, I thought I would feel like a prisoner, but I do not. I feel more now than I ever have. I do not need even one more day to decide.” By this time Collin had stood and walked to Elise, she looked up at him, true happiness in her eyes “I choose to be bound to you for the rest of my life.” She said in a whisper, a tear rolling down her cheek. Collin brushed it away with his thumb and Elise’s head tilted to rest in his hand, “Are you sure?” Collin asked hoping that he was not dreaming, Elise smiled. “I am sure, I am so very, very sure.” Collin bent his head down and captured Elise’s mouth with his. The kiss was sweet, warm and ignited the embers that had already begun to smolder. Collin held Elise for a moment not wanting to let her go. Then he looked into her eyes “I cannot begin to tell you how happy you have made me.”
