I was once asked if there was a medicine to help cure lovesickness. I wondered too if such a thing existed.
He had no idea what love was. But he, somehow, knew that his love was meant for her. The way her laugh would brighten his day, her little smiles squeezing his heart; just something about her would melt his heart.
She had been in love before. But nothing like what she was feeling for him. The way he looked at her made her heart burst, his little chuckle made her cheeks heat up; just something about him cured her.
Childish they were. Unbeknownst to each others’ feelings, they thought that the other only saw them as a friend. They thought it would ruin their pure friendship and push them into utter heartbreak. So they kept their mouths shut for years until they had broken apart, gone their separate ways.
She found herself a charming boyfriend with a humorous personality. But he didn’t send that same spark to her heart like someone she had known before.
He found himself a beautiful girlfriend with a sporty personality. But she didn’t send that same warm feeling to his veins like someone he had known before.
They found each other again, bumping into each other at a simple coffee shop. Neither of them felt it, but a sudden pure smile popped up on their face. Of course, the other person noticed, causing them both to laugh. It sent a nostalgic feeling into their veins, a warm and comforting spark.
They sat and chatted over coffee and cake, catching up on each other’s lives. Laughs and giggles were heard with smiles and loving gazes shared. They never forgot their feelings for the other person, always lingering in their mind. You would think that would be enough to convince them that they had found their soulmate.
However, it was an accidental touch of their hands that sent that warm, tingly spark back into their veins. Without them knowing, they intertwined their fingers and enjoyed that feeling. The feeling of home.
Almost instantly, they both made the silent decision to jump out of their current relationship and into the warm bliss of being with the other. So what if it could ruin everything? So what if it could be difficult?
The look in the other person’s eyes was enough to comfort them. A loving gaze, filled with sincerity, strength, and unspoken words. A soft gaze worth fighting for.
I was once asked if there was a medicine to help cure lovesickness. Thinking back now, I laugh.
“Medicine? Not even poison is enough.“
