Oksana Baiul,
She is a ballerina.
She floats on the ice.
She sails on the ice,
And dances to the music.
The crowd claps for her.
Oksana can jump.
Oksana can spin as well.
The crowd enjoys her.
She feels so much love,
And it comes right from the crowd.
She has such a grin.

I was never good at ice skating, but I just love watching the professionals on television. I like the use of the words “float” and “sail” that you used to describe the way she skates on the ice. Very nice!
Thanks!
This piece is generally and ode to Oksana Baiul. Odes are unique and seem to be somewhat outdated, but I think they are important and powerful pieces of writing. I like how you referred to Baiul as a ballerina. Figure skaters truly dance on the ice. They are whimsical and poised, just like dancers. I enjoyed your repetition of Oksana’s name. This is important in an ode, and it shows that you look up to her and admire her skills.
