I’m afraid of looking at you like nothing else matters in the world. I’m afraid of falling in love. I’m afraid of falling in love with you. Your smile. Your beautiful eyes. The faces you make when I do something stupid. I’m afraid. I’m afraid your gonna break my heart and tear me to pieces. I’m afraid. But just because I’m afraid doesn’t mean I’m not gonna do it. That’s not who I am. I am gonna die. I’m gonna lose. I’m gonna fall in love with you. I’m gonna fall in love with your smile, your beautiful eyes, the faces you make when I do something stupid. I’m gonna fall in love with you, and I’m afraid. I’m afraid that I’m afraid, and I am ready. I am ready to be afraid.

I find that the more you have to lose, the more afraid you become. It’s easy to be brave or reckless when the stakes are low, but when you have people who rely on you and love you, and who you love back, it’s much more difficult to take unnecessary risks.
