I harbor so much affection
Love too vast to hold within a girl, it’s true
I yearn to give it all, but as it sits it becomes infection
My heart swollen to its brim, its edges turning blue
We were not born for ourselves
No, brought forth for the contrary; to give it all away
So when this gift sits idle, it rots upon my soul’s shelves
But fearing the poison of forlorn affection, I cry ev’ry day
The tears that stream down feel like acid on flesh
Stinging like salt on a wound; Burning like fire on skin
I have love for free to give! Blossoming and springing fresh!
And if there is no one to share in it, Death will slaughter my grin!
I place my affection in God’s tender hands
I know He deserves it so, more so does He yearn it!
Yet I still long for you to share; love in the purest lands
To embrace you close forever; to hold you on Heaven’s summit!
