I wrote a song, a journal. Gave it to the world.
Peggy wrote a song called ‘and’…
Told the story of when I was just a girl.
Peggy told people or showed people the true side of her sisters…
I sought understanding clarity in truth,
Peggy sang her heart out when she felt like a burden or when she felt forgotten…
by baring all the wounds inflicted on my youth.
Peggy always wore long sleeves or a jacket due to her deep scars on her wrists from self harm… She also hides the bruises that she got from her sisters…
You criticized my choice to stand up to my past
Peggy’s sisters would always judge her for wearing no makeup… For not wearing dresses or skirts… Not wearing high heels…
to give the pain a voice, so that it too could pass.
Peggy’s sisters saw her as a mistake… A problem in their life… That’s when Peggy started to become forgotten…
But I felt brave and filled with pride as I let go
Peggy learned to not let her sisters bother her… She stood up for herself…
of bitterness that wouldn’t leave or let me grow.
Nobody really knew who Peggy was… She had to show people that she exists…
And I will spend lifetime, trying to understand
Peggy always had one question on her mind…
why someone sharing my bloodline, would not lend me their hand
Am I supposed to apologize? Am I supposed to apologize?
Peggy always thought of apologizing… She then realized that she had nothing to apologize for…
I loved her more than myself
She fell in love with a woman named Maria Lewis… They dated and Peggy would treat her better than she treats herself…
but she made me choose between her and my father, and so I refused.
Maria was angry at the fact that Peggy didn’t want to leave her family after what they did to her… Maria wanted Peggy to choose between her and her father… Peggy refused and broke up with her…
I fled her house and wrath, eleven years of age,
No matter how young Peggy was… She felt the pain and hurt in her chest as she ran away from both her ex girlfriend’s home and her home…
followed the crooked path that led me to a stage.
Peggy still went straight to music whenever someone or something made her feel something negative…
The curtains opened up, my heart followed the lead.
Her heart knew that even though she’s forgotten… She still could be known for her voice…
The music wouldn’t stop and I could finally breathe,
Peggy felt relief whenever she sang…
but I will spend a lifetime trying to understand,
But during every performance… She always had one question in her mind…
why someone sharing my bloodline would not lend me their hand.Â
Why do my sisters hurt me in more ways than one? I love them… Why can’t they love me?
Am I supposed to apologize? Am I supposed to apologize?
Peggy became famous for her singing… Once her sisters found out, they came to Peggy asking for forgiveness… But it was too late … Peggy had already forgotten who they were…
