in the name of god
we kill
in the name of god
we steal
in the name of god
we rape
but most of all
in the name of god
we hate
we must offer sacrifices on daily, my son
‘cus our god likes his lamb very well done
and I’m so sorry ,Isaac, for you’re the one
but, if I was a real father, you know, I’d let you run
we must offer strangers our only two daughters
‘cus our god’s visiting angels aren’t lovers
and I’m so sorry ,my wife, for you’re the pillar
but, if I was a real husband, you know, I’ve fathered
in the name of god
we kill
in the name of god
we steal
in the name of god
we rape
but most of all
in the name of god
we hate
I shall offer you fruit, my old seedless mate
‘cus our god blesses those who own slaves
and I’m so sorry, Hagar, for jealousy you’ve laid
but, if I was a real master, you know, I’d have trade
in the name of god
we kill
in the name of god
we steal
in the name of god
we rape
but most of all
in the name of god
we hate

we were created in his image ….. hmmm…. no wonder ……..
this goes to the crux of the question that many christians and non christians have been dealing with for centuries: if God is all good, why does evil exist? This is a dark, blatant and brave poetry reflecting that.
