he closed his eyes
contemplating
leaning against the wall
knowing his journey is about to end
and also
knowing he did the right thing
indeed
he had faith in his belief
he had CONVICTION
from his childhood to adolescence
his prime and now in his declining years
his wife
his children
his parents
and
all his family
and
friends
all those memories flashing by before his mind’s eye
the collage of emotions
connecting
moments and events in scattered jig saw pieces
how fitting
now
the final piece of the puzzle is about to be complete
for the picture is worth a thousand words
so they say
who are they to tell this man
who is about to face
THE FIRING SQUAD!

I enjoyed reading this piece. It was interesting. I am not totally confident that I know what you are writing about, but your writing created a dramatic feel for readers. I like how you capitalized all of the letters in conviction. This is a powerful stylistic touch.
Thank you very much, ken. You know you have just said the exact thing that I was aspiring to achieve. Like a sponge, I suppose, absorbing something fresh as a water flowing from me head. But anyways, it was meant to be opaque and it’s up to the reader to be more transparent than the author. And if I was being clear, well I guess he was something akin to a terrorist. Or maybe, just a martyr of some conflict.
