The weight of my boots on the ground drag me down,
Leading with fear, and pretending to be.
It’s time to stop walking, take a step back.
Ask myself why? Do I do all these things?
Is it for me, my purpose in life?
Working all day to relax in a box that’s covered in grey?
My home is not here,
Searching with greed for success in money.
Nor is it there,
On the couch crunching corn while I watch my TV.
If that’s what you think life should be,
Then you’re wrong.
This life is too short to be wasted;
Resist the temptation.
Why not just follow your heart and embrace it?
Follow what, you might ask?
To which I’d respond:
The voice from within,
Speaking through me,
Showing you things that I know you can see.
Come, I invite you,
Just be.

I love this reminder to take a step back. The boots that are walking are usually a metaphor for moving forward and “fighting the good fight.” I like how you spin it into this feeling of hurriedness and impulsivity that keeps us from taking the time to question things. This poem also has a calm, easy-going flow that enhances the very point you write about: “Just be.”
