Axel’s POV
She was curled up in against the elevator, her head between her knees, breathing hard, her form trembling.
“Are you alright?” I asked, crouching by the girl. I couldn’t see her face. I placed a hand on her shoulder, and her head shot up. I let out an inaudible gasp when I saw that it was the girl from earlier, Rogue was her name.
Her fisted hands scrubbed at her eyes as she sniffled. “Yeah, fine.”
I gave her a disbelieving look, my hand unconsciously brushing off the stray hairs that were stuck to her cheeks. “Do you want to talk about it?”
She scoffed, taking her arms off of her knees and using them to push herself up. She stumbled a bit, and my arms immediately went to her shoulders to steady her. I fought back a smirk when her cheeks flushed, taking my hands off.
“Thanks,” she said, running her hands over her face. “Sorry to bother you.”
After shaking out her arms, she went to leave, but I grabbed onto her elbow at the last moment, causing her to almost fall.
“I’m going to get my father’s replacement tie since I spilled something on his current one. Do you wanna come?” I asked. I wasn’t really sure what drove me to ask her, but I didn’t want her to go back to whatever had upset her.
She bit down on her bottom lip, throwing me a cautious look before nodding. I smiled, cupping her elbow as I led her into the elevator. I pressed the button for the fourth floor, and the doors slid shut.
The elevator was going smoothly, climbing up to the third floor, when suddenly it stopped, the lights in the elevator going dark. Rogue let out a little squeak as we tumbled into each other from the force of the stop.
I cleared my throat, climbing off of her. “I think were trapped.”
