Brenda was such a beautiful girl. She was young and naive when she left home and married Earl.
His laugh was loud and very hearty. Yes, Earl was always the life of the party.
But behind closed doors Earl showed his true colors. His hearty laugh was never for Brenda – only meant for others.
You see, when Earl got angry he was someone to fear. There were many nights Brenda slept in her own tears.
Her family and friends saw the bruises of purple and blue, around Brenda’s face and deep down they knew.
Earl was not the nice guy he portrayed himself to be. Inside of him lived a monster and they knew she should flee.
But Brenda stayed believing one day Earl would change. And nobody told her different or helped her arrange,
A safe place to go.
Or tell her they know.
The hell Brenda went through day to day. Nobody helped her or knew what to say.
It’s not a surprise how this sad story ends.
Brenda’s funeral was attended by her family and friends.
