Do you want me
to find what’s truly in your heart or not?
If you do,
you’ve gotta give me a good shot.
You’ve been dropping me hints
here and there.
And I know,
yes I know,
that it’s not really fair.
You’ve been bringing up the topic
whenever you can.
Subtly,
yet it’s still somehow obvious to me.
You sang that song,
yeah, I think you know the one,
over and over in my ear.
Yet you still seem to have
some sort of fear.
I mean, I guess it’s not only you,
I fear the same things that I think you do.
Maybe it’s all in my head.
Am I reading too much into these signs?
If I know your secret,
do you know mine?

I love the enigmatic approach you took here. Bringing forth the unaddressed “elephant in the room” and mentioning unacknowledged hints is great way to highlight how some people have a hard time accepting things about themselves and others. Sometimes it takes time and communication to get to the truth. I like it!
