We aren’t victims of unknown forces, although
sometimes we feel as if the universe is harsh
and dumps everything on us. All that comes
our way is means for us to work on ourselves
and grow. We always have the strength and
wisdom to deal with the adversity we face, and
often it’s a delusional adversity. We label it
as an obstacle and then experience it as such.
What we don’t realize is that we can craft a
life full of joy for ourselves so that each day
can be brimming with fullness. To do that, we
need to wake up and create it for ourselves.

I like how clean this piece is – both visually and in word choice. I’d never heard the term delusional adversity, but there is something striking and sharp about its honesty. It’s such an easy trap to fall into of “playing the victim.” This piece reminds me of learned helplessness and the self-fulfilling prophecy (apologies for the psychology major in me appearing) – both of which can be deadly to one’s true potential. I especially enjoyed the title. Normally the phrase “deal with it” is cold and hard, but in this instance, it has a “tough love” wisdom to it.
Lovely work!
thanks !!
