Why do not all humans defend
The rights of those who ought to be free?
Why must we kill the ones who are small,
And bloody our hands, Country ‘Tis of Thee?
Why must we hurt the ones aren’t born?
What did they do to deserve their fates?
Did they commit the crime of existence?
Were they burdens much too great?
Why should they die, and the law not provide
A shelter in which they can hide?
Why must they be burdened by dying before
The world to see they almost explored?
Is it a choice? Is it a political issue?
Is the babe in the womb just a lump of tissue?
Is it a big dilemma to contemplate another’s life?
Is it too much to ask not to put babes through strife?
But here is the reason: Our courts did not care
About the babes’ baths of red liquid, sifting through all air.
Has the world gone mad to where even a babe
Does not have the right to live if the law forbade?!
