What if your dreams were real? What if you took the form of another person, seeing the world through their eyes? What if it all wasn’t just a dream. The nightmares, the darkness, the fear- that was all real. The joyful dreams, happy and warm, those were real too. But the world you would go too is neither of those things. In fact, this world has nothing of interest what so ever.
Dream was a copy of Earth, it had all of the same people, but that is no matter now. This Dream world has been mixed up and is no longer what is used to be. There is no freedom, no free will, but there is order, and there is a system.
Each hour we go into the Realm after a short break in our Pod- what Humans call home. The Realm is where the Humans watch through the Common’s eyes. It is where the Humans ‘dream’ and where the Common spend most of their life. We are given a List; each one tells us exactly what we need to do in the Realm. There is no don’t, just what we will and have to do. If anything goes wrong when Hosting- well, no one really knows. All the Common know about the matter is that those who disobey are taken away into the Night’s headquarters, never to be seen again. And that is reason enough for most of us to follow orders. The Night makes sure that those who rebel are punished. They control our lives, almost living it out for us.
Night is a group of people who demand perfection, even though there is none in Dream. They think that they can control what the Humans do, that they can make them do only what Night wants. They watch the life of every single Commoner, too. Each one is given two mistakes until they are taken away. The Lists we are given are sometimes painful to carry out, so most of us have already had our first mistake. But I have not- I have followed behind those who have disobeyed, hiding in their shadows, but always heeding the Night’s instruction.

You really paint the bizarre nature in dreams in what words have not yet said… You know, when you’re dreaming, but you can’t really decide what to do, but you just do it, no matter how weird the situation is. I’m still curious about the punishing nature of the night though… Great story!
