In today’s world, development has become destruction. Not for mankind but for the other beautiful species who share the earth with us.
The Red List:
According to research compiled by the IUNC (World Conservation Union), almost one-fourth of the world’s known mammal species are extinct or on the brink of extinction. The Red List, a report containing an evaluation of threatened species shows that 188 species are ‘critically endangered’ and 505 species are ‘vulnerable’.
Factors contributing to extinction:
By this point, we should all realise that we are responsible for this increase in globally endangered species. Human interference and activities such as over harvesting and introduction of foreign species are causing loss of habitats which leads to loss of life of several animals. Pollution is another prevalent issue that is ruining our world. Biologists have predicted that it may become impossible for many species to survive without human intervention, wildlife sanctuaries, and captive breeding.
Therefore, we should join hands and be committed to saving helpless animals. We are the ones to blame so we should be the ones to find a solution.
