I failed the test, what a terrible fate.
Had a choice. Stay or leave, it still wasn’t too late.
The decision and the right thing was to stay.
The last right decision was on that day.
I thought keeping you alive was a good plan.
Although this kind of pain, I would never understand.
We made rules, they lasted only a short time.
It was a slow dance on a wire, then you crossed a line.
I made mistakes right from the start.
But I paid in full, with a broken heart.
I should have waited, that’s what you said.
But I remember, it was you, who came to my bed.
I told you I loved you and we made a plan.
But it was not the right time, and I was not the right man.
My love for you would be put to the ultimate test.
Intimacy in the haze of your drunken breath.
Story you told, I took advantage of you.
You and I both know, that just wasn’t true.
Lost most of my friends, what’s worse, my respect.
But that love I professed, I would never neglect.
In the end, forgiveness was what I gave.
And your big secret, to this very day, I save.
I keep your pride, and I understand why.
I told you I loved you, and that was no lie.
