She was like freshly fallen snow, soft and alluring. Her pale skin contrasted against her deep eyes that were mixed of greens and browns. Long, wavy hair brushed down over her heaving shoulders, sweat pasting the sides down onto her face. I stared in awe as her somber, wistful gaze mirrored my own. A breath hitched in my throat that was caught by her plain beauty, I had never seen someone so breathtaking and yet simple at the same time. Opening my mouth to speak and yet no words came out, just that one breath. My thoughts scattered. Bewilderment left me speechless.
I wasn’t sure how long I had been running for, all that raced through my mind was the sense of urgency to go, to flee. But what was I avoiding, what was I trying to evade? Lungs burning, trying to fill themselves with air, and then I saw him. How long he had been standing there staring at me I did not know. Aloof was the first word that popped up into my head and I smiled. Stifling back laughter. I tried to avoid eye contact but his beaming grin had drawn me in. Deep pools of brown sparkling in the sunlight clear as amber, playful and curious. Neither of us moved. We were still as statues under the blazing sun unable to look away. His skin was sun kissed and freckled, a deep brown that went with his eyes perfectly.
