you once lit up my life
on very dark days,
you were luminescent
under the gray clouds
and the shadowy night
reminding me of brighter days
ever so doubtful
bringing a spark
igniting a flame
to dispel the dark
comfort the soul
help the lost
your life more important
obscuring the lost
uncompromising at all
willful and stubborn
irresolute in word and act
leading in misdirecting
lamenting the loss
bearing no shame
erroneous in assumption
till the day at last arrives
overdue for penance
obligatorily reaching out
letting the words fall
apologies on deaf ears
the words cannot penetrate
ever past the ground
