I’ve forgiven
So many occasions
But, I have learned
To ask,
“Is it mine to forgive?”
If not, I pray
Who am I
To forgive?
Forgiveness
Only for those
Capable
Of such acts –
These words
Of love
And war
So easily cast about.
What then
Is an asking
Of forgiveness
But a claiming
Of resolution.
What does it look like
This face
This feeling
This place
Of forgiveness
You seek?
What does forgiveness
Look like
To the extent
Of Justice,
So many
Do not have metal
To serve?
If a claim
Of mine
Does not
Result in
Ours
What then
Should a heart
Know
To forgive?
Can we ever
Love
Or give
What we cannot have
Or know?
