there are different types of friends
there are the friends that make you feel like garbage
then theres those friends who hold your hand through everything
theres those friends who lie behind your back
then theres those friends who are dead up honest with you
there are those friends who think there more important than you
then there are those friends who think you are there everything
there are those friends who help you with nothing
then theres those friends that have your back
there is fake friends
then theres real friends
and real friends are everything
fake friends make you cry harder every day and laugh a little less
real friends make you cry less and smile more

I think that this is SUCH an important piece for people to read, for it deals with a topic that is rarely talked about but it is entirely relevant today, especially in regards to younger teens and adults. There comes a point in life when people have to really step up to the plate in order to make friends. We have to rely on our intuition to decided who are true, genuine people and who are people who are just a character. Sometimes, our intuition can be wrong about people, causing us to get into regrettable relationships that bring out dismay, tears, and lies. Still, in spite of those types of relationships, we cannot give up hope that there is someone out there who’s the ideal friend and will treat us right. I adore this work because it constantly counteracts the negativity of some friendships with the blissfulness of others, thus reinforcing the fact that not every friendship is meant to last forever; but amidst all the temporary ones, there is guaranteed to be a few that are eternal – so long as you keep yourself open to them.
If there is anything that I would suggest in regards to making this piece even better and influential, it would be to maintain a consistency with the starting lines “there are friends who…” and “then theres those friends who…” because then, there will be an element of repetition to the poem, which is always a lot more appealing to the ear and therefore the message will stay ingrained in the reader’s brain for longer. Furthermore, if you want to effectively emphasize a bad friend from a good friend, it would be in your best interest to keep to these phrases because it solidifies the idea of a distinct difference between these two types of friendships. And lastly, I would advise adding another sentence that really drives home the fact that real friends are out so that you provide your readers with faith. You want to encourage the reader, reassuring him or her that real friendships are worth the struggle of fakes ones, so say that. End this piece with a BANG – A FIST IN THE AIR!
All in all, this is a great, great piece and I definitely feel like it will stick with me for a while.
