Trials of the Mind
By: Gen1900
I wanna scream and punch the walls;
It’s seems all I ever do is fall.
My life is filled with times of bitter pain;
Not a shred of happiness will I gain.
Trials, especially hard ones are meant to be faced;
I just want to shrink from the darkness and its deadly embrace.
Will the sunshine seek finally through?;
Or is it gone as to my smiles are few?
I must take a step . . . whether easy or troubling;
I should take a risk for my troubles are doubling.
Then suddenly a white light warms my skin;
It is whispering you won . . . you didn’t give in.
I’ve made it at last;
And the bad ebbs away into the past.
Doesn’t mean the ghosts won’t come back;
You’ll be ready . . . ready for the attack.
Author’s Note
This poem I wrote when I felt very upset. The emotion I hope you find in this poem is what I’ve been dealing with for the past year. Sometimes the world seems against me, but that’s not the case. My own voices are fighting against ME. It takes courage to battle your struggles. Eventually, they will be overcome and you’ll notice sunshine seeping into your life. The darkness will END.

I like this poem a lot. This should be the lyrics to a song, figurative language is amazing. Loved the word choice. Great job 🙂
I have realized this is a very depressing, poem. In this world today, people need uplifting and inspiring pieces. This one isn’t one of them.
