“I wish I’d never even met you.”
That’s the very last thing I ever said to you.
I remember how your face fell,
Your teeth clenching to hold back tears.
You told me I didn’t mean it,
But I swore to you that I did.
We both knew that was a lie,
I could never hate you.
But in a sick,
Twisted way,
My wish was granted.
But god, do I wish I could take it back.

Sometimes a big statement like that is the best thing you could ever do, or the worst. Whatever the case may be, good luck. Time will give you clarity.
This is a short, concise poem – but very intense. The plot escalates quickly. I think this piece is important because it can remind people to always leave their loved ones on a good note. Nothing is promised. The conversation we are having with someone may be the last.
This is a very nice poem, but it is so sad…in the heat of anger or frustration, we often say things we don’t mean. We say things while thinking other things, ultimately causing the misconception and misunderstanding between two people who care for each other.
Where’s the rest of it? You caught my attention so well only to find out its really short
I liked the poem ..short, but with a strong statement about saying things we shouldn’t or wish we hadn’t said in the heat of the moment, thanks for sharing.
I love how this puts me in the receiving end of that harsh statement… How I almost feel like tearing up imagining me receiving this statement. Yet.. This also shows how a harsh word rashly spoken can rebound twice as hard? I thank you, dear one, for sharing.
