If a church can’t love sinners and the lost then I wonder what their purpose really is?
If your church is to good for me
I doubt I’d want to go there anyway
you’d look down on me and not help spiritually
I wonder if people like me you pray?
My sins your God can’t wash
or your church just doesn’t care?
If your church is to good for me
then you’d probably not accept
people like John the Baptist
maybe because honey and locust eat
or his clothing attire your standards not meet
I think he would just stay in the wilderness ..my bet!
If your church is to good for me
when out in public don’t with a smile greet
I know how you and your church feel
and I understand hypocrisy quite well
If your church is to good for me
don’t worry I’ll not attend, for there’d be no need!

This is exactly how I feel about the Church. Not so much the Church, but the people who act in their name. It’s sad. But you turned that emotion into a really visceral poem. Good job!
Thank you so much, I promise you your comment is never taken for granted.
