"Letters in Disguise"
Dear prince charming,
Thank you for never showing up! If you had, I would have never had the pleasure of rescuing myself. When I stopped waiting for you, I became friends with the dragon you was taught to slay on my behalf. Together, we used the time to learn all the corners of my kingdom. We learned the art of war and it’s peaceful surrender to all the colors of the rainbow. I giggled with talking tea cups and communicated with the universe through numbers. The walls of my palace greeted me with secrets of the Queens before me and their rebellion against doubt. Sometimes I couldnt help but sit in silence, with my eyes closed, listening to the beat of my heart. Embracing each moment, one breath after another, amused by the effortless union it creates with everything that surrounds me. The man in the moon visited me almost every night, making me blush, as we twirled among the stars. My mind made up bedtime stories for my stuffed animals and I tried to imitate the sounds of the birds in the trees. Plucked the chords of my broom guitar as I laughed at my mistakes. Because of you, I was able to notice the roots growing, from the bottom of my feet and all the creative things my hands can do. I am able to walk in any shoes, while also swimming with the mermaids. You ve helped me recognize my own voice, as well as the magic of my brain. I ve read books that have convinced me, I m related to the elements. Your absence has granted me the opportunity, to become as strong as the wind, as fluid as the water and as fierce as the flames. Now that I know exactly what I want and all that I am capable of, I choose to be queen. Teaching you all the ways of the world, while I patiently wait for my king.
Yours truly,
Queen princess
