Today, we’ll pretend.
These sorrowful notes
Now, joyful
Grateful
Blessed
For this time
It has taken
To dig our way out
Of the ground.
We’ll imagine
All the great mysteries
Yet to be discovered
Magic
This great love story
We’ll pretend
It’s yet to be found
How lucky we are
To be here
On such a grand adventure.
How could we know
This nostalgia
Of dust, books, and mechanics
Like so many dreams
Of the sky
Would be the highlight
Of our dreams.
Let’s be scholars
And artists
In love
I say,
Let’s pretend.
Ancient Civilizations.
