Help, I’m drowning!! Drowning in pain…. Drowning in sorrow…. Drowning in loss…. Like a candle that has lost it’s flame, where shall I go now? To get to you I must cross mountains topped with snow. To be at your door i must journey over numerous rivers that have frozen with ice, entrapping me in the cold of winter. Time will slip away as if the clock is counting backwards as I inch closer to where you may be. Though the stars may connect us like a constellation at night, you are still too far away for my heart to be content. The memories of you are all that I have, even if they may never have been real. So yes… I am drowning… but there’s no water near.

As someone who is involved in a long distance relationship, this piece really resonated with me in many ways. It does a great job of expressing what it can be like to be so far, to have to go through so much to see the one that you love, and for that I say kudos. The last few lines seem like a bit of a twist, making me think that this was actually about someone dreaming about a relationship they were never able to actually have, but always longed for.
