"Missing You at Christmas"
quiet snowflakes falling
gently covering the ground.
Silently the world lays
in stillness all around.
I wish you knew how hard it’s been
since you passed away.
I miss you all the time still,
especially Christmas day.
Everybody keeps tells me that
the hurt will pass with time.
Just keep holding on and carry on
and one day I’ll be fine.
but if, not missing you,
means I have to forget you were
ever here
I’d rather feel the heartache
just to feel you near
but the snowflakes keep
on falling,
falling tear by tear.

You’re really good at expressive writing. Being in mourning on such a jolly holiday can hurt deeply, and you really highlighted how sometimes it just doesn’t feel right to forget about that sorrow sometimes.
Thank You! Not every poem is directly involving me personally, although at times me. I’m empathetic to others loss as well and try to use my personal situations and theirs as an amalgam of sorts. Thank you for your comments.
I certainly can relate to this poem. I know what it feels like to lose somebody special. I lost both of my parents in 2013. This poem is well written. Good job. Keep up the good work.
Thank you. I appreciate the comments! Whenever I see your name on the site, it reminds me I went to school with a Randy Johnson. ?
