If suddenly I had money, much more than I could use, would I hoard it like a miser? What with it would I do? Would I be a different person, having gained this sudden win? Unable to remember how poor I was back then? Would my closest friends be saying how invariably I’d changed? With me, instead, insisting that I am still the same? I hope that I’d remember the values taught to me, of helping those less fortunate or otherwise in need. Money is just money once basic needs are met. It will not buy you happiness the more of it you get. Sure, it may change your status, allow for idle days, but the person with the fullest heart gave most of it away. I enjoyed reading this piece. It touched on an interesting idea. I think most people can relate to the idea of thinking about how different their lives would be if they had more money. I like that you said, “Once basic needs are met, It will not buy you happiness.” This is a very important and true concept.
Thank You, Kendall. Thanks for the feedback. Yes, sometimes I wonder what it would be like to have a lot of money, but, I know, especially not coming from money, it really wouldn’t change my ‘happiness’ level beyond a certain point. In fact, It may make it worse.
