Every December twenty-first, this special day comes to pass, a celebration white and shimmering; the festivities last a whole quarter year! But it is not easy for Mother Nature to become a bride of white for her groom, Father Winter; she must endure much gloom and chill before the time of nuptial arrives.
With her sisters, April, May, and June, she frolics with the maidens of Spring, and chases after the mystical butterflies that float on the warm and gentle air. With her dear cousins, July, August, and September, she sings ballads with the children of Summer on those hot, sultry nights. But, Oh! When Lord October and Lady November arrive to stay a while, she labors much… yes! So much that she looses her verdant garment!
Lord October is a jolly gent and bright; Mother Nature strives to entertain this happy guest with her new garments of yellow, orange, and reds. She laughs with him next to the warm, crackling campfires and the smiling jack-o-lanterns, but the fun soon ends when the cruel, Lady November comes to slaughter the happy lord.
At the tragic sight of her slaying and stay, Mother Nature cries in anguish by stripping herself of the colorful coat she donned for Fall’s festivities. Her robe falls to the ground; it lays there to rot and decay on the cold, muddy ground. Oh, the rainstorms of bitter sorrow! Oh, the bone-chilling winds of November’s temper and hardness! She locks up Mother Earth in her somber mood, forcing her to lie dormant and produce nothing but her bare bark!
But lady November’s shrieks travel on the powerful North Winds and reach the ears of regal Father Winter. Stirred to fury for the protection of his beloved, he rides on a chariot on the wings of the Arctic Squall, to hurl the bitter witch into the depths of his snowy drifts!
And the joy that Mother Nature shows when her groom comes hard but happily! After the battle of the rain and the snow is gone, she wear a sparkling, white dress, shining in the diamonds of hoarfrost in the sun! Even the snow hare celebrates with her, by changing his coat of brown into a white garment himself. The wedding has begun! May the marriage of Father Winter and Mother Nature be a blessed one!

I enjoy seasonal writings like this one! It’s a good genre to work with and push the creative bounds. Your imagery is great! I wish I could draw or paint because a lot of your images would make for interesting pictures.
I really enjoy how you took something that most people take for granted (the change of seasons) and wrote a creative explanation for it. I really like this piece!
