Notice:: I am trying to write multiple stories at once (silly me!) so updates of Mutated and The Island may be slow!
☣Prologue☣
WE KNOW IT is our fault. Well, not our fault. But the human’s. Some biohazard experiment escaped a facility and wreaked havoc on the entire planet.
And then it… reproduced. With humans and creatures of its kind. How, I’m not sure. And then, as the ‘virus’ slowly spread, people began to develop mutations. By then, the world was a mess of fire and debris, not much of a civilization left. All forms of government crumbled. And the survivors were left to fend for themselves. Another virus formed, one that killed. I don’t know how, and I don’t care. As long as I survive, nothing else matters. At least to me. So, as my mother is dying from that very same virus, I watch the light begin to fade from her eyes. Tears stream down my face. For the past three years, it had been the two of us, trying to survive together. Dad died of the virus first. Right after him, my brother. Then my twin little sisters. Now mom. I’m the only one left of the family.
“Go to the cities…” Mom rasps. Her beautiful face is pale, sweat dots her forehead. “F-find salvation.” And then she goes limp.

Great prologue! Captivating without revealing too much of your story. This makes me think of “The Fifth Wave” (the book, not the atrocities of the film adaptation… I digress). Well, your story can take a lot of interesting turns. I look forward to see how you develop it!
I actually just read The Fifth Wave series a few weeks ago. I believe I might have unintentionally taken some inspiration from that series, as well as the Maximum Ride series. I’m so glad you like it so far! I was nervous what people would think because the prologue is so short
