Ode to the Smallest of Things ~ Billy J Barnard
Oh, my love, how could I forget you?
I am supposed to greet you every day.
This morning I got busy, too many things to do.
And left without a word to say.
Could I last a day without your love?
This possibility remains to be seen.
Could I stay healthy and rise above?
Can I live, is what I really mean?
I know I have many of you, each has a task.
We all work together, that’s been the plan.
Do I need you, how can you ask?
Without you I couldn’t be a healthy man.
You see two of you help mend this broken heart.
One physical and one emotion.
Apart and together, you work your art.
A part of the larger potion.
Two I have for helping fix this wreck.
Too much beef and not enough fish.
Too high by my last check.
Maybe I’ll try the vegetarian dish.
Yes, I left home this morning without taking my pills.
I hope I don’t die with regret.
You are only here to help cure my ills.
No disrespect, but I sometimes forget.
I’ll see you in the morning.

This is awesome. I have no critique; it’s great. It rhymes well, it flows well and it is just an amazing poem all around.
