Only a second, maybe less, that’s all it takes for you to see that even the toughest person you know will break down and show you that they are human too. A black bear lives in peace with humans, not to bother us, they just mind their own business. A very peaceful creature. But take a mama bear’s cub away and they will become the most savage animal in the woods until it retrieves its child because that is what it holds most dear in the world. A well composed man who has everything together will fall apart if you take the right thing away. It is especially bad when that “thing” is someone that you’ve only met. Not someone that is related to you and has always been there but someone that gets to choose whether or not they stay in your life, and you have no control over that decision. That is the greatest power a person can have over another person, control over another persons sanity. It is sad because more often than not, when someone has that power over somebody, they are not even aware. So they do not know the harm they will do when they walk away. But they always walk away. When that happens, there is a moment where you cannot even think. Your brain is trying to figure out what you did wrong while also trying to figure out how to get them back, while at the same time you are feeling pain, loss, sadness, grief, and anger, all of the undesirable emotions. So you are stuck there feeling all of that pain until you feel no more. You feel nothing, for a second you are fine. It is like the wind stopped mid breeze and everything is still. Then all of a sudden the reality of it hits you and get a deep stabbing pain in your stomach that can be crippling. The pause was when you finally stopped scrambling long enough to realize what happened, and the pain is all of your thoughts and emotions that were so scrambled before, becoming real and hitting you hard in the form of one emotion, and it is the worst one, helplessness. All of this happens in only a moment. In a single second your life can go from perfect to not even feeling worth it. And the only wisdom you ever gain from this traumatic experience is the painful truth that no matter what, you will never be enough.

Dang! That’s powerful. I kind of see this as a monologue spoken by a jaded, cynical person. Good job.
Thank you for your feedback! I really appreciate it.
