Clothed in mixed colors of oranges, yellows and grays
Gifted with a sweet, sour, yet spikey taste
Oh pineapple I would love to learn your ways
Of being so delicious and out of place
You see, I’m studious and professional much like mom
And whenever things go bad I always remain calm
But that’s not you pineapple, you’ll never be refined
To be like every other fruit you were never inclined
You never went for that stupid coveted degree
You were the only one who found pleasure in the GED
Staying at one job was always a bore
You found more pleasure in walking out the door
And you were so daring that you walked out on your wife and son
Dropped the mundane for a life on the run
Yes, you are a very interesting and intriguing fruit
It’s no wonder why dad loved eating you

Hmm. Something about fruits…. Anyway, it’s an interesting and intriguing …poem. I like it! It makes me feel more appreciative of my mother’s sacrifice to raise me right. Yeah, eating pineapples make lousy fathers…..
I never would have thought of comparing a pineapple to living an adventurous life. This was very creative of you.
I get it. This was an excuse to use the pineapple emoji in your title right? 😉
But your comparison to a rogue father is very striking. It almost seemed as though you were going to praise the individuality of the pineapple (really, what fruit is like it?) but then you turned the subject on its head and made symbolic of a person. Creative!
Thanks for sharing really enjoyable read I like how it started very light, and, at least, to me very fun. Then it starts to get a bit more serious and somber loved it.
I never thought I would read such an emotional, well written, flowing poem about a pineapple out of all things. I like it! 🙂
Interesting and very creative, I liked the poem very much and enjoyed reading, thanks.
