Commander Ulylesses was a tall and imposing man. His bald head nearly brushed the top of the bunker’s ceiling. What a sight, he thought with disgust. Bodies littered the cemented floor. Dried blood everywhere. He shook his head and breathed deeply through his sharply hooked nose. His men were the best, hiw did this happen? Did the MRM have a secret weapon of some sort? Did the small and inferior clan finally advance in technology? He nudged a dead trooper’s head with his leather boot. The man’s entire face was crushed beyond recognition. It was just a puply mess. Brain and bone shattered and still oozing white and red matter. “Officer Amie.” He snapped. A small woman stepped from behind his bodyguards. “Sir.” She saluted sharply. He waved her salute aside impatiently. “What has happened here? This was your trainee’s detachment. How could this have possibly happened?” She shook her head in anger, tightly clutching her fists. “I wish I knew, sir. Intel suggests that a MRM elite commando team-” before she had finished her sentence, he slapped her across her face. How could she stand there and say the MRM had an elite team?! There was no other team or any solider that could win against the Valkeryn. He stepped closer to her, his face burning red. “There is no elite commando team besides ours!” He roared. His guards glared at the woman. Who did she think she was? None could rival the Valkeryn, none dared.. except the MRM clan. They might be small but they fought like demons. Hundreds of worlds had been cleared of all Valkeryn presence in only a matter of months. They struck were the Valkeryn were weak and tore down everything resourceful and fled the planets. If they couldn’t have them they didn’t want the Valkeryn to have them either. A few weeks ago an incoming transmission had told that the outpost on Flellda had fallen and that a single team of seven had done it. Ulylesses had seen the holo footage of it and had identified that they were MRM soldiers. But these men had fought with skill. Great skill. The whole outpost that had been occupied by nearly forty men, was gone. Every single soldier dead. Ulylesses and his fleet were close to the system, so he wanted to check this out personally. And now that he had, it pissed him off even more. “Officer Amie, ” he breathed in deeply, mustering all of his willpower to keep himself composed. The woman inclined her head slightly. “I’m putting you in charge of finding the MRM squad that did this. If you fail, I shall have your whole family executed and your rank, title and family legacy removed from our hive drive. Am I understood?” The guards stiffened, looking at each other with shock. The hive drive was what the Valkeryn lived for. A fallen great hero’s name and rank was inputted into the Central computer on the Valkeryn homeworld of Valker’ryn, here, hundreds of thousands of years later anyone could see the hologram of that hero and listen to what he had said in his voice journals. Many great Valkeryn heroes had been placed in the Hive Drive. This was the ultimate goal for a Valkeryn soldier. To be known as the greatest hero of all mankind. And being stripped of a legacy was the worst thing that could happen to a soldier. Officer Amie nodded and to her credit, she didn’t show a hint of surprise. “I understand perfectly. Sir.”
Later. A small base is being sat up by the Valkeryn…
Sergeant Gates smiled grimly as Officer Amie approached. “I see the commander’s wraith has fallen on you today.” He said, not even bothering to hold back a loud chuckle. She didn’t say anything for an instant, instead she chewed on her bottom lip. A habit she had picked up when things went wrong. “Fuck him.” She replied calmly. “Oh, you must get in line, my beauty. A lot of women would like to do just that.” Gates said. Unfortunately, it was true. All of the Valkeryn women wanted power and fame. And the easiest way to achieve that goal was marry a hero or be hero’s concubine. And Ulylesses was the Valkeryn’s greatest hero since the battle of Atitan a few years ago. He had it all. Wealth. Fame. Women. And of course his name and rank was updated to the Hive Drive. Everyone was calling him the Objurr’ra King. Meaning Returning king. He had single handedly defeated a fleet of privateers with just two cruisers. It was recorded and was played during the Valkeryn king’s first ceremony of conquest. He laughed at her razor sharp gaze, and pulled his helmet off. “I’m not screwing around today, Gates. I’m being dead serious.” She stared at him as he snapped open a flask he kept hidden in his back pocket for occasions just like this, it might be against the Valkeryn’s regs to carry alcohol around on the field but Gates didn’t give a fuck. He sighed down some of the amber liquid, sighing as it sizzles down his throat. “Ahhh! Much better. That commander is a no bullshit kinda guy. Once back in the battle of Atitan, he gave an order that was completely carried out, but we still won, he didn’t give a damn. He sent the captain’s head who disobeyed back in a cyber freezer and made it a ‘national display ‘ as he called it. He made a speech about how the Valkeryn must obey orders or we will be nothing and shit. He went on in greater detail how soldiers are not to think, just follow out orders or die trying and so forth. To him, we are just pawns that are expendable to get more fame and wealth for that mother fucker. He doesn’t give a damn about anything but his reputation and reports he sends to the king about how well the war is going. And how he is making it so.” He handed the flask over to her outstretched hands, and continued talking. “Trust, me. That guy isn’t good news. He is a fucking bastard using us as stepping stones. Hey,” he reached for the flask again, “easy on my drink, I need it for all the morale and good shit,” he snatched it from her and peered into the depths of it, frowning. “Good god, Amie! That was all I had until we reached the Liberator. ” he shook his head at her grinning smile. “Sorry, sergeant. ” he snorted and jammed the flask back into his pocket. “Yeah, right. Now why did you come talk to me? You didn’t come hunting me down just to down my booze.” She patted him on the back. “Right you are, gear up. We have a MRM squad to find.” She started to leave but stopped and reaching into her armored vest pulled out another flask and tossed it to him. He neatly snagged it out of the air, staring at it suspiciously. When he realized it was brandy, he nodded with approval. “We are even. My squad will be mobilized in forty minutes. ”
The war front of the planet of Zeleny. Three days from the nearest MRM camp.
“Fuck, Jag. I liked it better when we were sleeping instead of crawling through this God forbidden snow.” Lina Chack muttered into her helmet’s audio receptors. She dragged her sniper rifle into reaching distance and settled back against the tall tree that they used for cover. Jag Rein rubbed his chest plate where a Valkeryn trooper’s bullet had struck him. He was surprised that he hadn’t died. “Is that like a hint? cause I’m not getting it. Now stop complaining, you know you love hiking in the war front with me. Its couple quality time.” A mortar shell struck a tree three hundred yards from them, sending a geyser of snow up and shooting splintered wood into the air. She turned around and stared at him. He could just see the expression on her face behind the helmet’s face plate. He couldn’t help but chuckle, he liked how cute she was when she was trying to be serious. “Yeah,” she said, “I guess your right. There really isn’t anything better to do then have sex, and we really can’t even do that without being interrupted. Alright, when is this guy supposed to show up? I want to be cuddling with my teddy bear, not freezing my ass off.” Jag flipped on his data pad and punched a button. “Umm. The target is having a good meal right now. Those spy camps we installed in their base’s computer system was a good idea.” Lina leaned over and pulled his wrist around. Sure enough, the target was indeed stuffing his fat face with expensive and extravagant foods from worlds too expensive to dream of traveling too. Doffen Adren. He was the one who helped the Valkeryn take Atitan.
