life and death are in the power of the tongue! For those who recognize this as being from the biblical-narrative, specifically from the book of Proverbs, this scripture points out that what we speak, our words, have much power! We are capable of shaping our own future, as well as other’s futures, simply by “speaking it” into existence! Now before some of you scholars beat me up over this, remember that Jesus taught this same principle in the new testament! Words are eternal! We put them out there and we can not bring them back! Our words are life or death sentences upon us and those around us! It is so vital to truly ‘think before you Sean’s because the foundation of our very being is at stake! We must carefully choose our words wisely on every occasion we are permitted! Words have sound. They vibrate on a frequency much like music! They are not just frivolous, empty words, at all! No matter what we may feel at any given moment, we must take heed to how we respond with our words! It really does matter! Finally, with our words we can bring life or death and with our words we can encourage or discourage someone! Let’s be the guys and gals who speak ‘life’ and not ‘death’ into everyone’s day and help them get one step closer to reaching their goals so we can then reach ours! “Speak it into existence” and begin to see the unseen!

I really like this thought. It is true that words have the power to harm or to heal, to build up or tear down. I just read a column in the paper that spoke about social media as being a bizarre alternate reality where people try to one-up each other on who can have more or do more, from “number of kills” in a video game to “best vacay, be jelly” and being responsible for a record number of bullying incidents and teenage suicides. It’s very important that each person take time to think through something before they say it out loud or post it online, asking themselves how these words will affect the listener or reader. You never know if what you’re “joking” about or “just saying” could be the tipping point for someone between life and death.
