“MAY CAUSE DROWSINESS.”
your eyelids will be 50-pound bricks, your head will always be too far from a pillow, your body
will move in slow motion and your legs will buckle
at the mention of sleep, you will become an addict seeking your fix and you
will never get enough, you will want to drown in blankets and swim in dreams and
you will fall to your knees in mercy, you will wake after twelve hours and want to
dive right back in.
“MAY CAUSE DIZZINESS.”
your head will whirl when you get out of bed each morning until you return
each night, your skull will crack in two and your eye sockets will become too shallow
words will begin to pirouette off pages and float just beyond
your reach, the ground will soon collide in a kaleidoscope with the sky, watching
as colors blur around the edges and the world becomes soft, your mind will spin and
spin like you’re falling in love.
“USE CARE WHEN OPERATING A VEHICLE, VESSEL, OR DANGEROUS MACHINERY.”
at first you will grow wary of this miracle masquerading as a curse, it will be too foreign
for your body, too complicated to fully comprehend, but soon
you will learn
you will learn to step lightly, to drive patiently
to look both ways and then look again, you will find yourself smiling, you will imagine
yourself with bright blinking hazard lights that warn the room,
‘Beware. She is not sad anymore.’
“TAKE ONE TABLET BY MOUTH EVERY DAY.”
you will still walk, still talk, still breathe, you have
simply added more to you
made yourself more stable, more real
you will go through the motions. you are moving back
into the home you abandoned, you will be cautious and you will be careful and
you will be healing

This is really powerful. I love the urgency of this poem until the last verse when everything becomes calm. Nice work and good use of language.
I loved this!!
