As it started to become harder for Jimmy to get Lilly to open up like she did before her father started taking his anger out on her, he took it upon himself and started to save up money and work which meant he didn’t see her very often. He dreamed of escaping with her where she would be accepted. His job consisted of long hours with some over nights and heavy work, he became a logger. Cutting down trees for firewood, also to make new houses, along with dams, and bridges. He worked for a family owned business near the outskirts of town. It was a small family of two sons who worked with Jimmy along with their father. The mom was a nurse and doctor who helped heal the sick and wounded. The only one in the town. With one daughter who was young, eight years old who would learn everything her mother could teach her.
A long month has gone by and the pay was fairly decent and after earning half the money he needed and Lilly no longer waiting in there spot every day, he decided to visit her home and throw stones at her bedroom window. Dangerous as it was he was desperate to see her even though it’s only been a few days in between the last time he saw her. Summer was hitting its ending peak and they needed to escape before winter reared its ugly head. Along with his work experience he also knew the borders of the woods, where they end and start. He constructed the map to their survival and new life they were to discover together.
Silently he came in from the woods behind the house towards the attic window all the way at the top where Lilly’s bedroom was located there. Picking up small rocks he aimed high and hit her window three times, stopped and waited for her response. Minutes passed by and still no answer, he tried a second time larger rocks and hit the window same amount of times. Again he waited for an answer, more time flew by and she was nowhere in sight. He figured he’d go to their usual place seeing he might have missed her and passed her by. As he turned around and started to walk away he heard the backdoor open, the screen door squeaking as it closed. He slowly turned around fearing it was her father and stiffened up heart racing a thousand beats in his ears they were about to burst.
As he saw Lilly’s face he fell to his knees. It was such a horrid sight. He knew deep down it would happen if her condition prolonged any longer and with him absent for so long. Her eyes were black and blue with fresh cuts and blood running down her face along with the old bruises, not given time to heal showed its presence. Her left hand broken and finger marks on her arms all the way up and down them fresh and old. Jimmy cried till he couldn’t anymore, Lilly approached him slowly showing no emotion on her face. He finally got to her and broken her spirit. She no longer smiled even to Jimmy. A cold dead stare lingered on her lifeless pale face.
They silently walked back to the water where it all began holding hands, and watched the sun set in the north straight ahead of them. As Jimmy fought his turmoil in his head and heart trying to figure out what he could say or better yet should say. Knowing his words would not be enough to repair the damage that was already done. Stuck in the corner all he could do was hold her tightly and whisper in her ear “I Love you, and I’m sorry I left you. I will never leave your side again, I promise. You are my first and last love don’t ever forget me.” For the first time Lilly smiled and laughed out loud and so hard that she had to grab her chest as tears built up and fell down her soft cheeks. Never ending fresh salty tears made their way out to her recovery on the inside.
Startled Jimmy looked into her eyes as hers met his. She knew he meant it and he knew she understood. He broke her free from her shell she resided in for safe keeping her mind from going insane. And even worse suicide. For their first time they touched lips. Jimmy finally kissed Lilly.
He showed Lilly the map that he had made at work along with his savings. He decided enough was enough they were to head into the woods tonight; it was going to be a three day nonstop adventure. One long walk to their new place on the other side of the endless woods that hid their small town from the rest of the world. Jimmy told Lilly to go back home and pack only what she needed while he did the same. They were to meet back where they were now. Jimmy ran back home, as did Lilly while smiling she was happy her life was going to finally change for the better, or so she thought. Not knowing what is in the woods possible danger neither of them cared to think of. A well thought plan but not thoroughly thought threw. As Jimmy finished packing he left his dad a note and wrote one for Lilly as well as a surprise when they got to their new place. Rushing back to the willow tree by the lake Lilly was there waiting with her flashlight in hand.
Under the moonlight Lilly’s face glowed radiantly as Jimmy approached her. He took her by the hand, as they took their first steps to their dream lives together, forever they will be changed. Entering the woods Lilly clenched on tightly to Jimmy, she was scared of the dark. It was starting to getting colder and colder for it being the ending of the summer, as they got further into the woods the temperature kept dropping dramatically. They put on hoody’s of there’s just in time for a strange phenomenon occurred, it started to snow lightly. They were only a few hours walk into the darkness, flashes of light beam showing the snowfall. There was a storm heading straight there way. Jimmy told Lilly “we should find a place to get out of the snow, as it has started to fall down quicker and heavier.” At a fast pace they started to hurry as it was covering them with its white blanket. They were getting colder by the second.
On the way Jimmy picked up wood to make a fire out of to heat them up. When finally Lilly spotted something in the darkness a black hole up ahead. She ran towards it and she found a small cave under the trees. It was a dirt cave possibly dug in from an animal that was nowhere around. A fire should keep the animals away Jimmy told Lilly as he dug a hole and placed a few rocks he found around it and put the sticks he collected inside. He used his matches to start the fire and blew into the bottom to get it going as it light up the forest a few feet ahead of them. They could see there was about already 3 inches of snow on the ground. It was very strange to be happening so early this year, and with that much in a short period of time.
Jimmy held Lilly close to him; she could hear his heartbeat in her ear. She felt safe and warm in his embrace. She couldn’t be any happier as she slowly fell asleep in front of the fire. It was after midnight before they started the fire and 3 hours before sunup when Jimmy followed Lilly into the bed they had made out of their cloths they brought with them.
Jimmy being a light sleeper woke up to the fire out and hearing footprints in the snow along with tree branches breaking in the distance faintly. He woke Lilly up, she yawned loudly and they both heard a voice yelling “who’s in my home?” With such monstrosity the man yelled it in extreme anger and behavior. The flashlights lit up both sides of the caves outside. Too scared to run, he was a human after all Jimmy figured he could talk to the guy about it. Considering it was close to day light hours away, and then they’d be on their way shortly.
The moment came as the man closed in to their eyes view; he was covered in blood head to toe. Dragging a partial body along his side, there was a blood trail that he left behind him. Screaming to the top of her lungs Lilly ran out into the snow and woods scared for her life. Jimmy followed behind her. There was no talking needed with a killer. After all what type of reasoning could he possibly come up with when dealing with one who clearly is out of their mind?!
Looking behind him Jimmy could not see them being followed as he grabbed Lilly and had her stop to catch their breath. Eating the snow because they had no water as they both caught their breath, Lilly insisted they kept going. She was shaking in fear; the body that he dragged was a woman and she did not want to meet the same fate. Suspense was building up in her head, until she saw it from the trees behind Jimmy where he come flying out of them heading right towards Jimmy. She fell backwards with terror written all over her face as she turned white as the snow that was all around her trembling body. Jimmy got his leg slashed open as the man stood above him licking his hands. Jimmy saw his claws shine off the moonlight. “No, no Jimmy get up we need to go!” Lilly shrieked and mumbled out as clear as she could. Unable to stand Jimmy crawled to Lilly only to be turning his back on the wild beast. The man once again slashed at Jimmy’s shoulders and threw him into a tree. Lilly could hear his bones crack as they broke. Jimmy’s blood almost covered Lilly’s body, as she watched him get ripped open cuts all over. It was like he was playing with him, slowly killing him. She couldn’t bear it anymore unable to do anything. Jimmy told her to “LIVE” as she ran away; he understood why she did and was happy.
Reality kicked back in as she once again opened her eyes from a long sleep, feeling restless and restored fully. Her dream of the past inflicted little to no pain, as she reminded herself she was no longer human and not a weak mortal. Emotions are to be left in the past where they belong just like jimmy. As she stood and gazed over the land it was time to begin hunting the cattle, live sacks of meat. Their time is now up the reapers in town and waiting to erase them from this world of misery. She headed for her father’s home he was the first on her list to die, a beautifully brutal slow death. She was going to help ease his pain and suffering of the past at last. This cold dark gloomy place in Lilly’s heart mends a thousand broken pieces of particles from trauma hidden deep in the abyss. To achieve means death and to conquer means love. Caught in between two worlds facing resurrection against gods will only imagination is the key, for it holds no bounds. Standing in the front door she smiled an evil grin as she swung the door open. The slamming of the door meeting the wall echoed and shook the whole house. Immediately her dad not drunk for once came to where she was. The moonlight lit up her pale white skin as she peered in, the look in her eyes gave away her devilish looks. Lost in her gaze, he saw the thing she has become it was no longer his daughter he was in front of. But one of the beings he encountered years ago when his wife died the story he never told Lilly the real truth.
Her mother murdered because she had Lilly’s newly born smell on her; the beast so badly wanted her for his own. Abducting her as Lilly’s father tried to follow behind crying at the top of his lungs in sorrow. The last thing he saw was her mother being split in half. She was not what he was after, so close and yet so far away from him she was taken away forever. The man or beast repeated something in the distance before he disappeared into the darkness. “My eyes are closed and lost in your smell ill drown in your taste. Frozen from your touch, drawn to your voice in this darkness that will be ours. Love is the brightest guiding me to you very soon I shall return for what’s mine by birthright.” Struck in fear and agony as he looked down upon his wife’s corpse. “Slaughter the wicked and save the damned kill for honor.” He repeated as he held her in his arms as she faded away and kissed her cold dead lips, as he slowly went insane.
He locked Lilly in her room for years fretting the day that man would return for her and do harm upon her as he did her mother. In the end he realized he could never go against fait the blood line ended with her first day’s creation. His actions of love turned to torture and loss of her childhood experience was stolen instead. Kept from others under his unlawful protection, he made the towns people think she murdered her mother buried her in the backyard in cement before anyone could see the body and know the truth. Her whole life has been a lie hidden behind a disguise from the real truth monsters really do exist and are out for her existence.
Lilly crept slowly closer and closer to her father in anticipation to punish him with his own wraith onto him. Time to begin the killing, as the waters will run red and they will all disappear with her. Like a ghost she vanishes and re appears behind him too quick for his eyes to adjust to the movements. She slashes her nails against his throat, as the blood splatters on the white walls dripping down. Such an exquisite sight her smile grew bigger with such excitement that over whelmed her heart. With one hand she threw him to the ground as she persistently gashed open his insides tearing him apart and chewing on the flesh and crackling of the bones as she smashed him apart into pieces. As he watched not able to speak his wind pipe was severed with her first interaction, her prey was right where she wanted him. Such a gruesome display blood everywhere as she noticed his one fist clenching onto something for dear life to the very end. She forced open his hand and saw it was a letter from Jimmy. In complete shock she found herself opening and reading it.
“To my believed Lilly,
I want to love you till my life is over, because if I was to stop loving you my heart would stop beating once more. But when you join me it will burn to nothingness because my loves not in me it’s lost inside of you. My secret place where we can be free to live once again in our own paradise that we make. I want to spend the rest of my days and nights next to you. Rest your head on me now let your sweat sink into me I want to have your smell soak up my shirt. You kill me every time were apart, tormented by you leaving. Without you day is nothing but a waist of light, without you I am lost I vanish in the dead of night. A life without you is but a senseless waste of time. Your beloved Jimmy see you again soon my love.”
Her hands retracted inward to where her heart used to beat clenching her chests flesh she squeezed the letter and tore it apart. Confused as to what has overcome her mind into thinking she still loved and mourned Jimmy’s demise. She could smell his presence on the letter her loved burned eternally with flames so hot no amount of blood will drown it out. As she stood up to clear her head and regain her thoughts and to clear her mind, as she noticed a bloody key lying in the corner. It must have been on her father’s neck till she sliced it open, she picked it up. There was a strange smell of a women lingering on it but whose could it be she wondered. Following a similar smell that clung to something else in the house she found herself in front of her dad’s dresser drawer. Opening the top one she noticed a locked diary with the same scent on it just a little stronger. It had her mother’s name on it Elizabeth dawn across the top, Lilly unlocked the diary eager to see what was inside. She knew nothing of her mother or that this even existed and was kept from her. As she began to read it from the beginning it became apparent as to what her mother’s lineage was very astonished to the past that occurred unnoticed.
She learned she was of a royalty blood line and a princess of a kingdom far away over the mountain past the woods coverage. Her mother was the queen who ran away from her home land to be free of her family’s curse. Years back about a century there was a war that raged on between the kingdom and what it read as undead creatures. That could be killed only by decapitation to the head and staking the heart. Or by burning them completely to the bone nothing else killed them as they regenerated and healed there body’s rather quickly. After months on end of constant bloodshed and paranoia the leader and the king came face to face as the demon in a man’s body made his demands. With no soldiers left to fight, and only he left alive the king made a treason with the fiend. He was the strongest and oldest of his kind believed to be the first he slaughtered and massacred almost all the town in the battle. What he demanded is a sacrificial bride every time a daughter is born he wanted the mothers. He drained their blood searching for the sweet smell and taste of the perfect mate to be his queen of the night. After many years of sacrificed women he grew bored, the blood was dull to the taste and grew foul. So when Lilly’s grandmother was giving birth to her mom he turned her to change the blood line. After Lilly’s mother was born he beheaded her mother and waited for her to grow up. Half mortal and immortal blood ran in Elizabeth’s blood she knew she was different didn’t crave for blood but every time she hurt herself it would heal instantly on its own. With no mother around she tried to get answers from her father but he just ignored her and changed the subject. Only thing he told her is she will understand when she’s older and bears a child of her own. Years spent in solitude and in darkness as an outcast, to the shadows of her peers till she turned eighteen and was promised to a man she did not know or love. Her wedding was pre-arranged the same day and would be held on the next day. Dreading the whole scenario she mindlessly walked the halls that very night to get a look at the man she never saw or even knows face before tomorrow’s important day to her father. As she neared the corner to his room’s hall she overheard whispers from the maids as they were leaving his room for the night.
“Did you hear the old tale story about the lineage to this family’s ominous ongoing curse?” She heard one say.
“Yea about when she marries and bears a daughter she is to be sacrificed to a blood thirsty demon and it’s been going on for years now that’s how her mother died. It drank her blood and as she gave birth they said her eyes glowed bright red and she was tied down so she wouldn’t go after her daughter. That thing killed her soon after.”
Startled and frozen still in fear she tensed up as she ran back into her room, tears fell endlessly from her face as she cried in her pillow. All these secrets kept from her knowledge something so important and heart breaking news came upon her so suddenly. She knew she was different than everyone else but not this much. Blurry eyes from water evaporated as she realized she needed to escape this place before it was too late. Thinking she could escape her fate she packed light and left in the midnight of the moons light guiding her threw the darkness. On her journey she kept her diary updated on her surroundings and where she was heading. She passed along the ocean walking on the beach, to reach the edge of the mountain as she looked for a way around it. She had to get to the forest before daybreak to be out of sight and far gone before anyone notices. With the mountain being far stretched very high and steep to climb she walked along it the whole night, looking for the other side. Finally just as daybreak was on the horizon she found a small stream of water with a passage way eroded from the years and cracked the mountain in two half’s. As she climbed up into the separation a few feet in she took a rest on a flat dry surface. To regain strength she fell asleep to the sound of the water so peaceful and soothing to her ears. The first time she was free of her family burdens and demanding’s of her life it wasn’t hers but now she’s taking what’s rightfully hers to own.
As she slept the morning away she dreamed of a place where there were no rules or boundaries to bind her free wandering spirit. Interrupted dream state of mind she was awoken to hearing her name in the far distance being called desperately and repeatedly. Her heart raced as she regained her consciousness and stood up quickly in a fast pace started to go through the small passage way to get to the other side. She could see nothing but rocks and the stream that lead her path through, there had to be open water on the other side of the mountain. Few minutes passed as she fled the echoing voices that grew silencer as she finally reached the end. A ten foot drop to a small pond is what awaited her, she could see the forest in front of her eyes, and it stretched for a few miles from what she could see ahead of her. It was going to be a long walk to civilization, as she jumped feet first into the water below.
It was surprisingly refreshing and warms all her cold sweat washing away on this sunny humid day. It would cool her body temperature down as she began her journey into the woods, the sun lighting up the forest. The leaves were green and sparkled in the lights gaze upon them she could hear the birds songs all around her. Nature’s beauty and wanders were hers to engulf in so relaxed and the past left behind her, mind was clean and clear. She wandered around the forest the whole day it was almost dark as the sun started to disappear in the horizon she lost her lights guidance. She still continued to go forward in hope to find someone or someplace soon. She brought few snacks and was almost out already didn’t think her journey through Thorley. Midnights peak was just minutes away, as she heard a rustle in the bushes ahead of her. She was not alone anymore to dark to see what’s ahead of her and the moonlight was hidden by the trees above, she was at a disadvantage. At first it was just ahead of her till she heard a few more on each side of her there numbers grew larger. She could feel herself surrounded, fear filled every inch of her body trembling she hesitated on what she should do. Overwhelmed in anxiety she dropped everything she had in hope to outrun whatever it was tracing her every footstep.
