America’s obesity rates have caused widespread of information saying to stop your intake of added sugars and eat healthier. Freshman Kate Rasmussen counteracts what headlines and athletes say about soda. Using math data learned in math class at timberline middle school, Kate has found data that justifies, that soda can make you perform better in sports.
Started by Interviewing forty- eight randomly selected people twenty-four that played a sport, twenty-four that didn’t. The data is slightly biassed, members that participated were chosen out of convenience. Members of both populations were asked the same two questions, How many cans of soda do you drink a week? What’s the total number of hours of exercise you get a week?
For the second question, the difference between the two populations was expected for those that played a sport they averaged around twenty hours a week and the ones that didn’t average around five hours a week. However, those that played a sport and exercised more than twenty hours a week drank far more soda than the ones that didn’t play sports and exercised much less. Could the soda be enhancing their physical ability to play a sport?
