Sometimes life calls us to step up to the plate. What are we going to do when we find ourselves in a make or break situation? Are we going to cower out of fear and anxiety, or are we going to walk up confidently listening to those motivating words of Jesus, “what is impossible with man is possible with God.” I decide today that I am going to fight to reach my destiny every single day, no exceptions. It is my job to get up every morning driven, passionate and motivated to do the work, the results are in God’s hands.
Anything worth having is worth working for. Being a musician, a skill that takes many, many hours of diligent practice to get decent at, I learned the valuable lesson that hard work pays off rather early. If I wanted to play drums like my hero’s then I have to practice like I want to be a hero too. That takes time and dedication, neither of which comes free of charge. Giving up time to pursue a passion means putting other things, like friends and family, on the back burner. Dedication means some things also may get put on hold so we can focus on that particular challenge we are striving for. Being good at your craft means sacrificing much to allow time for the development of little. A lot of people shy away from this because they want the normal happy life. I’m not one of these, I dream of the extraordinary, the fantastic, the incredible memories, and I’m not talking about fame or fortune, I’m talking about achieving at a high level. I’m talking about walking away proud and with no regrets, being on my death bed and not wishing I would have tried harder. I’m talking about answer God’s call to greatness for His names sake. I felt this call my whole life I just never knew it was for or from Him, the big G.
More than anything I wish to exit this life with no regrets, and I certainly look back on my many mistakes and sometimes wish I could change them, but I am happy with the man I am today. The lessons I learned, the wisdom I gained and the trials I pushed through are worth more than anything I could have accomplished in that time, but now it is time to put the turbo jets on and see how far I can take this ride called life.
What is that one thing for you? That thought that keeps you up at night, the idea of only if I could do this, then I could be pleased with myself. Pursue that! God gave you that desire; you didn’t just get that randomly. Sure genetics and environment play a role in influencing you, but I’m not talking about what’s familiar, I’m talking about what gets you exceptionally excited. The urgency God put in my heart to write is a blessing that I do not want to forsake and I take it very seriously. It may not seem this way but a lot of stress, planning and heartache goes into these writings. He gave me this gift and I will honor Him with it.
If you could remove all the ifs, ands, ors and buts, all the excuses, what would be that one thing your heart desires to purse? Chase that! Chase your dreams, our time here is short, we need to live our lives to the fullest! No, I am not talking about YOLO and party on, I am talking about seeing where your potential could take you. We all have gifts that God gave us out of His abundant love and grace, isn’t it a little dishonoring to stomp out those flames? Release your talents! Step out in faith and believe God will bless you if you use what He gave you! There is nothing He wants more than for you to use what He blessed you with. Chase your dreams with a sense of urgency like there is no tomorrow, because it is likely there won’t be a tomorrow.
None of us know the hour we will be called.
