Chapter 3: Principle’s office
Okay, I’ll be honest today didn’t go as I planned it would. But you can’t blame me for slapping her, she knows she just did that to me to piss me off. Well, great now my parents are going to know and i will be grounded and…
“Alexa Bowen, come in please,” inviting Principle Steed opened up the door to let Isabelle out and me in. “So, can you tell me what happened today during lunch?”
“Well I got angry and I slapped Isabelle. And let me say I’m sorry, she was being a jerk sir.” I explained to him.
“Alexa, how was she being a jerk?”
“Well we were best friends until I didn’t go to a stupid birthday party then she hated me for that, and she asked my uh… well crush on a date knowing that I would be mad.” I said without taking a breath.
“Well, I guess she got to you Alexa.” He replied while writing a note, “I’ll have to suspend you for a day, sorry.”
“Will Isabelle get in trouble for anything?”
“No, she technically didn’t do anything wrong. The only thing she will be getting is a red mark on her face.” he said while giving me the note. “okay, let’s call your parents. We need to let them know so someone can pick you up.”
I called my dad to come pick me up, but he had to talk to the principal and me first. I told him what I did, he wasn’t mad for some reason. But he wasn’t happy either. He was more on my side, of course I didn’t tell him about the whole crush thing.
“You got in a fight?” He said hugging me,” Are you okay?”
“Yes, I’m fine.” I replied.
“She’s going to have one day of suspension. This time is for you to think about what you did.” My principal told me while opening up the door for me and my dad to go home.
“Now, go home, we will be having a meeting with you and a parent with Isabelle’s parents soon.” He explained.
As me and my dad walked out of the school, I felt like everyone was looking at me. I kept my head down the whole time, I didn’t want to be seen. I’ve ruined my chance to fit in, get good grades, have my first kiss! Everything!! But at the same time, she needed a slap on her face for being such a jerk. No one would believe when I tell them why I did it, and probably couldn’t tell them either. What do I say, she asked someone on a date? So… ugh I honestly don’t care anymore…
“You hungry?” My dad asked me, “We could go to your favorite place?”
“No, I’m not really hungry. Thanks though,” I replied while turning my head to the window.
“You sure honey?”
“Well, maybe just a milkshake.”
“you are my daughter…” he chuckled.

I think the exchanges between the father and daughter are so well written, it’s like I’m reading a conversation with my own dad. The only thing I would say is that I’m not a fan of the verb “giggled” for the father. That a word usually associated with women and children. For the father, I’d replace it with “chuckled” or something similar.
thanks! I’ll change it!
