You’re like the boogie man who once made me fear the night,
But you aren’t a shadowy man lurking in unseeable corners of my room
Or the heedful beast claiming depths of the underside of my bed,
Yet you brand the fear of the unknown on to my thick but sensitive skin,
Just like the nights in my faraway youth
Thinking of all your possibilities makes my stomach turn.
It makes my mouth remember the taste of a sour
And bitter
Lemon
I wanna pucker my lips and spit it back out
But the bitterness laces my tongue and leaves me helpless and curious to learn more
It is odd how you taste like lemon
Hopefully, in time you can taste more like sweet diabetic candy and make my tongue bleed
