The last time you were around, You hardened my heart. And what I previously thought, Was harder than a diamond, Became softened once again, When we got reintroduced.
I started thinking, ”She is doing it again”, Addicted to your games. The only difference is, You reminded me what love, Selfless unapologetic love, Feels like. Break my heart did, When you turned your knight, Into a lowly Pawn. Now I’m at the far end, of a war torn board, Demanding a promotion, that was long overdue.
I didn’t need you to notice, And knowing my worth, I didn’t stop my heart, From remembering it’s truest form.
