I was dancing in my room last night
When my heart caught mid-beat
I was waltzing to our song
Thinking of the way
Our eyes had sidestepped outside the rhythm.
As I gasped for air I realized
That the blocks you used to build me
Were falling down inside
And you weren’t there to set them straight
Or put me back together.
I never should’ve let you be
The architect of all of me
Your blueprints that you sketched
Made a single boy my central beam.
Without you, I’m reduced to rubble
But I’d rather fall than have you forge
Your iron rods across my heart-
I think I’ll save us both the trouble.
