The Blue Light
By: Gen1900
I didn’t believe much about angels, in fact, I didn’t know they existed. My name is Katrina Sparks and this is my story of how my doubt about angels turned into something quite the opposite.
I was walking into a local Walmart, not particularly interested in my surroundings. Yes, I was glued to my phone, per usual.
I quickly walked to the produce section and grabbed a head of lettuce for dinner. Then a young man came into view beside me.
He just kept glancing at me, and I felt very cautious.
“Excuse me? You need something? ” I said, confronting him.
“You’re Katrina Sparks, correct? ” he asked. He was good-looking; blondish brown hair and blue eyes. He wore entirely white pants, shirt and gray pair of shoes. I was surprised his outfit didn’t have stains.
“Wait . . . how do you know my name? Have we met before? ” I questioned him, confused and puzzled.
“Thirty years ago, Katrina, ” he said.
I thought a moment. Wait! I wasn’t even born thirty years ago! I was just twenty- three!
” I’m sorry, but I was not born yet, ” I said.
He looked at me with a twinkle in his eye.
“Of course, Katrina. You have been my pal before you were born and after the fact, ” he said, smiling.
It felt like time stood still.
“Who are you?” I demanded again.
“I want you to go check out your salad. And the name of the cashier is me, ” he said and walked away.
Then he disappeared.
I blinked, trying to tell myself it was all dream.
I went to the check-out and a cashier guy greeted me.
“Hello, how are you doing?” he asked.
I decided to glance at his name tag . . . it read Michael. Funny thing too, blue light seemed to radiate from the name. I have never forgotten that day, nor will I ever . . .
