The Boundary: Chapter Six
By: Gen1900
All I could remember after the soldiers swarmed was a heavy blow to my head.
I awoke days . . . hours . . . seconds . . . minutes . . . I had no idea; my eyes squinted as a bright light covered my sense of vision. Voices too talked over me. I tried to move, even struggle, but my body remained fixated in place.
“What should we do with her?” one said in a bored tone.
“The President strictly told to keep this thing alive. Her father did something. That’s all I know, ” said another, very masculine.
Finally my eyes saw three people in lab coats; their bodies arched over me. Like cats waiting to pounce on their prey.
I was a hospital bed, not the normal ones with real padding. It was stripped of its comforts. Only the metal remained underneath me.
Then my brain leaped into panic mode! Where was Falcon or the others?!
“Oh, lookee here, she’s awake. Shh . . . be quiet everyone, ” barked the manly voice, that belonged to a guy in his mid-forties. He had a pinched nose, and barely any black hair on his head. Plus his skin was deathly pale.
The other voice I heard was a very pretty woman. She had a bobbed blond hair styled in slight waves. Her brown eyes though, pierced mine with a cold expression.
“How do you feel? Not that I care anyways, ” she said.
I gritted my teeth in pain. The metal dug into my back.
“If you were laying on this contraption you’d feel AMAZING!” I sarcastically snapped back.
“Heads up this one has attitude, ” said the pinched-nose skeleton.
“At least, the boy isn’t complaining, ” remarked the woman. “He has been behaving quite well for the program.”
They had to mean Falcon! He was very quiet! Even if I hardly knew him, he seemed the type who would be silent.
“Oh, he isn’t cooperating awake. They put him under a heavy sedative. Apparently he almost killed Dr. Stines. And you know what? He could’ve. He’s been trying to manipulate my promotion in the field for sometime now, ” said pinched-nose.
“Where is he now?” asked the woman.
“In Room 5, ” replied pinched-nose. After a bit he said, ” Why?”
The woman got a grave look on her face. It almost showed real compassion.
Apparently they didn’t mind my brain storing all this very important information. Or that I was listening attentively.
“Poor kid, that room is-”
“Thee room, I know, ” interrupted pinched-nose.
The woman started to place a mask over my face. I tried to break free, but it was no use. They had my hands tied.
The last thing before I went out was . . .
“The President wants her in Room 5, as well, ” added pinched-nose.
