I loved the Sun while he shone so fine
He may have burnt my skin, but his kiss was sultry golden
I kissed him back, with my face against his rays of shine
His embrace heated my passion, my energy did he embolden
I remember that happy morning, once upon a fragrant spring day
While I danced among the daisies, his light flickered on my hair
Little did I know that the our friendship wasn’t here to stay
And ignored the foul signs of the evil cloud in the air
Then I felt a cool nip on my cheek
“How biting!” Said I, but the Sun knew not what I meant
He remained calm on his westerly travel, shining against the bleak
Until he was enveloped by the black, and shrouded by its tent
My poor, glowing friend! Why didn’t you run?
You traveled right into the storm, and left me alone!
I am now left to cry, and now the hail has begun
The stones tear through the sky; the wind chills my bone!
Yet still, I hear you struggling in your plight
I see your fists manifest in lightning; hear your battle cry in thunder
I know you’re fighting for me, and you put the storm to flight
For the cloud ran out of rain, and its tantrum put under
Dearest friend, you came back to play with me!
Yet even brighter than before; you brought your bride, the Rainbow!
I now have two beautiful friends, one glowing, one sparkly!
And if another storm dares to rage, I know away you’ll never go!
